I LOVE to read. I read everything I possibly can. As Lemony Snicket said “All the secrets of the world are contained in books. Read at your own risk”. Maybe a little less of the risk but certainly an opportunity for enrichment, enlightenment and personal growth. Not to mention the sheer enjoyment of an un-put-downable, mighty good read. Books. I love them, did I mention that?
A friend of mine introduced me to the idea of sharing books in random places for others to find and enjoy after she discovered Book Crossing and I thought what a wonderful concept. Sharing is caring after all.
Reaching out to people through little acts of kindness. I thought about this for some time and thought how can I apply this to living an inspired, compassionate life? I don’t always get it right, I am after all only human but I aspire to live with a heart full of joy, spreading a little love wherever I go.
Books are very important to me. They have inspired me, made me laugh and even changed the way I think or act. It’s easy to believe that there is no time to read; life is after all busy busy but even if we skim through a book, especially one written to uplift, motivate and encourage, us, we are sure to find comfort, new ways of thinking or even just a few minutes respite from the challenges we face every day.
This is why I decided to invest in copies of some of the books that I have read over the years that have impacted me in positive ways and to leave them in random places out and about – park benches, bus stops, waiting rooms, cafés, public spaces and so forth for people to find and enjoy.
Maybe they will significantly affect a person at a moment in life when they couldn’t see through the mist. Maybe they shall raise a smile, maybe they will not be found?
The purpose is to spread a little love, share a little joy and create a positive culture of sharing is caring – inspiring acts and inspiring words to be given freely. After all, the people who wrote these wonderful books had something worthwhile to share didn’t they?
Kindness changes everything.
Along with my love affair with books and sharing inspired texts for others to enjoy, in keeping with reaching out to others with little acts of kindness I have been leaving rose quartz crystals for people to find and receive.
We all love a present, right? We all like to know that we are loved, unique, special? Why not give a little slice of happiness, even if it is to strangers. By doing something nice or saying something kind, we can change someone’s outlook and brighten their day. Who’d have thought something so small could have such an impact?
If you find one of the books or a little crystal in a bag, I hope it brings a smile to you. I hope it encourages you to share the joy and spread a little love.
